Top 15 Songs of 2015 (According to not_luna_lovegood)

I can't believe it's the last day of 2015! I'm not_luna_lovegood, and on behalf of my fellow Brick Wall Bloggers, we're very sorry that we didn't post as much as we would have liked this year. We've just been very busy with our various endeavors. I can't make any promises, but we'll try to post more in 2016.

To end the year, I decided to make a list of my favorite songs from the past year. I originally wrote a post somewhat like this and it was on the blog for about an hour before I deleted it. It was WAY too long and it just wasn't my best work. To make it up to you guys, I'm going to write a shorter version of it. I'm only allowing myself to write a maximum of four sentences on why I like each song. Lastly, this is just my opinion (obviously) and these are in no particular order. Let's begin!

1. "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars
Seeing as this song dominated 2015, I thought it would be fitting to begin my post with it. This song was freaking everywhere, and rightfully so. It's one of the catchiest songs of the year and it always makes me want to dance. I'm still not sick of "Uptown Funk", which is saying something considering how overplayed it was.

2. "Shut Up And Dance" by Walk The Moon
This is another one of the biggest songs of the year. Although I was sick of it for a while, I've started liking it now. It's one of the best feel-good songs of the year and always makes me smile.

3. "Can't Feel My Face" by The Weeknd
I like this song because of the beat. It's catchy, funky, and upbeat, unlike a lot of The Weeknd's other songs like "Earned It" and "The Hills". It sounds like something Michael Jackson would release if he were still alive. This song actually took a while to grow on me but I like it now.

4. "Want To Want Me" by Jason Derulo
Continuing with the theme of catchy and upbeat R&B-ish songs, we have the best song Jason Derulo has ever made, "Want To Want Me". I didn't like his songs from last year, like "Talk Dirty" and "Wiggle", but this song surprised me by actually being really good. Jason Derulo shows a lot of charisma in his performance and the beat is infectious.

5. "Love Me Like You Do" by Ellie Goulding
This song is on the soundtrack for Fifty Shades of Grey, which is a movie I haven't seen and don't want to based on what I know about it. However, this song is one of my favorites of the year. I really like a lot of Ellie's songs and this one is no exception. It's just so pretty sounding!

6. "Love Me Harder" by Ariana Grande ft. The Weeknd
I've always liked Ariana Grande's voice and I grew up watching her show Victorious, but her songs have always been just okay to me. However, "Love Me Harder" is definitely the best song she's made. Ariana's and The Weeknd's voices blend together really nicely and they have a lot of chemistry here. Considering Ariana's origins as a Nickelodeon star, I'd say this song is pretty mature-sounding, but that's a good kind of mature.

7. "Style" by Taylor Swift
The pop direction Taylor Swift has been going in lately with her music has worked out amazingly for her. Not only has she made A LOT of money because of it, she's also made some of her best music to date. I love "Style" because it shows off her skills as a songwriter while being upbeat and catchy. It's the best single off of the 1989 album in my opinion.

8. "Wildest Dreams" by Taylor Swift
Although I like "Style" better, I must admit that "Wildest Dreams" is absolutely amazing. It feels like the type of song Lana Del Rey would make, only even better. The beat is calming and beautiful and the song has the well-written lyrics we've come to expect from Taylor. Also, the music video is one of the best Taylor has made.

9. "Centuries" by Fall Out Boy
I thought it made sense to add two songs by Fall Out Boy after the two songs by Taylor Swift. "Centuries" is a favorite of mine because it just sounds epic. It's a song I would listen to while getting ready to save the world. It would also make great movie trailer music.

10. "Uma Thurman" by Fall Out Boy
"Uma Thurman" defined 2015 for me, more or less. It's the song that made Fall Out Boy become one of my favorite bands and the song I listened to the most by choice. I don't even know why I like it as much as I do. When I heard it for the first time, everything just clicked for me.

11. "Lean On" by Major Lazer & DJ Snake ft. MØ
Out of all the songs on my list, this one took the longest to grow on me. I eventually started liking it because it's just so chill and laid-back. That beat is also really infectious. It's one of my favorite songs of the year (obviously it is, since it wouldn't be on this list if it wasn't).

12. "Riptide" by Vance Joy
This song makes me want to learn how to play the ukulele. Both the instruments and Vance Joy's singing are calm and relaxed. The lyrics are also some of my favorite of the year, especially the opening lines.

13. "G.D.F.R" by Flo Rida ft. Sage the Gemini & Lookas
This is quite possibly one of the most stupidly charming songs of the year. I don't really like the rapping, but the saxophone beat is so much fun. It's probably the catchiest and infectious beat of the year. "G.D.F.R" is the biggest guilty pleasure of 2015 for me.

14. "Time of Our Lives" by Pitbull ft. Ne-Yo
I've never really liked Pitbull that much, but "Time of Our Lives" is a genuinely good song in my opinion. Pitbull raps about living life to the fullest and how bad times will always get better. It's actually a pretty good message, especially coming from Pitbull. The chorus provided by Ne-Yo is the best part of the song, though.

15. "Sorry" by Justin Bieber
Last but not least on my list is a song by an artist I despised until this year. 2015 will be remembered as the year Justin Bieber started making good music, and "Sorry" is his best song to date. The beat is incredibly catchy and Justins voice actually sounds really sincere. I don't know if I forgive him for making bad music and being a terrible person, but this song is the best thing he's done and I give Justin the imaginary "Most Improved" award of 2015.

Okay, there's my list. Agree, disagree, I don't care, because at the end of the day, it's my opinion. I hope 2016 gives us more good music. See you next year!

The First Dream Journal Post Ever *brought to you by not_luna_lovegood*

 On October 27, 2014, we started a new feature on our blog: the Dream Journal. We decided to start it because at the time, we noticed that we kept on having really insane dreams we wanted to share, but we never got to it. Until now...

This was a dream I had a few nights ago and it is legitimately the weirdest, funniest, and most utterly amazing dream I have ever had. Here goes nothing...

(Also none of this ever happened. I just dreamt it up in my head and calling it weird is the understatement of the century.)

It all started one day when I was home alone. I was having fun alone, writing stories, eating cold pizza, and listening to my favorite music. Then, all of a sudden, Banana_Elephant shows up to my house, dressed as Dora the Explorer. Banana_Elephant is like, "Hey Looney, wanna go rob a McDonald's?" and I'm like, "Yeah man".

Banana and I leave in an orange Camaro (her dream car), which she had apparently stolen. As we travel to the McDonald's, Banana and I sing the Little Einsteins theme song *which I'm sure you know, regardless of whether you watched the show as a kid or not. Curse you Vine...*.

We arrive at the McDonald's and find our good friend Doglover working there. As you should definitely know by now, Doglover loves dogs (heck, it's his name on here!* So there's this McDonald's customer and he wants to eat a Big Mac, only with dog meat instead of the regular hamburger meat. Doglover refuses to give the customer the Dog Mac, but the customer is very determined to leave the restaurant with one. Doglover starts crying because he doesn't think dogs should be eaten and as a result, he gets fired from the McDonald's.

Also at the McDonald's is my brother, who is on a date with Ariana Grande. They are having a heated conversation over which type of cheese is the best, even though my brother doesn't even like cheese and Ariana is a vegan. I ask my brother what he is doing there, and why out of all the places he could have gone on a date, he picked McDonald's. All of a sudden, Ariana just randomly gives us $500 in cash without explaining. Banana and I graciously thank her and we leave the restaurant.

We return to our stolen orange Camaro and head to Target, still singing the Little Einsteins theme song. At Target, we decide to spend the $500 given to us by Ariana on boxes of macaroni and cheese. I think we bought around 300 that day, and the Target employees were not happy about it. We go to the checkout and Banana accidentally crashes the (very full) cart into Taylor Swift. Now, Banana and I are both HUGE Taylor Swift fans, so we start screaming and fangirling loudly.

Due to our fangirling, a security guard takes Banana and I to a mental hospital. Our therapists are Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, and our meeting with them is...interesting...meaning that Kanye brags about how he is going to run for president in 2020 and Kim talks about the book she wrote about selfies. We're still immature teenage fangirls at the end of it all.

After we're done, the police found out that we robbed a McDonald's (which we did not do) and we end up being sent to court...but court is cancelled! Apparently, the police and the fireman had to skip court (even though they don't actually go to court) because somebody called them because Bruno Mars was too hot, hot ham*.

*It's an inside joke between my friends and I. In the song "Uptown Funk", Bruno sings about how he is too hot, and instead of saying "hot (word I won't say because it could be considered cursing and we like to keep things PG here)". we say "hot ham". It's pretty stupid but I love it.

After the court drama, Banana takes me to Chuckles' house to meet Chuckles and Quidditch_Turtle, ...only she doesn't. Chuckles' house no longer exists in my dream and is replaced by an ice rink. We do some good old-fashioned ice skating while baracksdubs play in the background. Yeah...I don't know either...

We end up having so stop ice skating because somewhere, my brother (who had returned from his date with Ariana Grande) had burnt a piece of toast. This is apparently such a big deal that somebody had Beyonce take us to safety at Hogwarts on unicorns (if you are looking for the weirdest sentence in this post, this is probably it).

We stay at Hogwarts for about 5 minutes before two more celebrities enter the dream. My favorite author, John Green, is flying a plane and Nicki Minaj is his co-pilot. John is lecturing her about all the characters he's ever killed off in his books and Nicki keeps on rapping about everything that's happened, and they are annoying each other to no end. The two eventually crash their plane into Hogwarts, causing an immediate evacuation.

Yet another celebrity, Dylan O'Brien, takes us to safety at a karaoke bar of all places. At the karaoke bar, Banana_Elephant and Quidditch_Turtle sing "Watch Me" by Silento with Miley Cyrus. As the performance goes on, I eat a bunch of cinnamon rolls and Chuckles and Dylan O'Brien have a conversation about everything that's happened that day. Naturally, since he is her celebrity crush, they end up dating.

The party continues as Fall Out Boy crashes the karaoke bar and gives us a free concert. But plot twist: the free concert is just them playing "Uma Thurman" 63 times until they get sick of it and are just like "Screw this LOL". It's fun but everybody is sad when they leave. As we look for something to do after the concert, one of my teachers from last year decides to lecture us on the history of sandpaper. At first we think it's boring but we end up laughing until we cry because this lecture is filled with lots of sarcastic remarks! One Direction is also there and they sing songs about marshmallows while the sandpaper lecture goes on, but nobody is paying attention to them, to be honest (don't hate me Directioners).

At the end, we realize that this is just a movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio, who actually didn't do anything in the dream. He ends up winning an Oscar for his (nonexistant) role in the movie, and users of the website Tumblr lose it because a lot of them have wanted him to win an Oscar forever. Tumblr ends up killing us all and the dream ends with my science teacher singing "Shake It Off" by Taylor Swift at karaoke.

So that's my dream. It's weird. I know. I mainly made this post because I was lecturing my friends about it at school and Doglover wasn't there and I didn't want to give the lecture again. I hope you enjoyed my insane dream. I'm not_luna_lovegood, and I'll post again whenever I feel like it.

Doglover's favorite 5 songs of the summer 2015!

Hey everyone! Doglover is finally back after a long-awaited return. I am here to share my 5 favorite songs of the year. Here we go:

5. Ella Henderson- Ghost
This was a song I enjoyed all of 2015 and I will continue to love it.

4. Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do
This is a song I will continue to love as well as it is a very pretty song with good tone.

3. Train - Angel In Blue Jeans
This is a new one. It's an old song but I heard it on Satellite Radio all summer, and I have regained my liking to this song.

2. Wiz Khalifa - See You Again
This was a favorite all summer because it's a great way to send Paul Walker off to a better place. With a pretty sing from Fabulous 7, don't quote me on this if I'm wrong.

1. Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor - Marvin Gaye
At first, I didn't know what to think about this song, but now I realized these two singers make a great duet with a pretty harmonizing song. This is now my new favorite.

Well there it is. My favorite songs of the summer. I apologize that this was long overdue. See you soon

Wow

Wow. Just wow. I haven't made a post since June, and I haven't made a legitimate post (meaning one that isn't like a sentence long) since May. I'm sorry about this, it's just that I've been busy. Doing what, you ask? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING PRODUCTIVE EXCEPT FOR LAY AROUND ON MY BED AND WATCH YOUTUBE VIDEOS! It may not be over yet, but the summer of 2015 has been a waste for me. I've done almost none of the things I wanted to do this summer, which includes writing on here. I'm truly disappointed in myself.

One of the main reasons I haven't posted in forever is because I've been suffering from writer's block...kinda. My problem is not so much that I don't have ideas, it's that those ideas aren't worth posting. First, I was going to write about my favorite songs of the 2010s decade so far. I scrapped that idea because it was essentially this huge rant (I call it that because I can't think of a better word) about why I love the song "Paradise" by Coldplay, and it just wasn't very good (the post, not the song. I love the song, but I haven't listened to it in a while. It might be because I got sick of it, but give me a month or two and I'll listen to it and love it just as I did the first time. I'm weird like that.) I do, however, like this concept of my favorite songs of the decade. I might do it some other time.

Another post I wanted to write was a rant about how I've lost interest in The Hunger Games series. Basically, it was about how I used to be obsessed with it, but now the last movie is coming out in a few months and I just don't care anymore. It's not that I hate The Hunger Games as much as the fact that I've, as I mentioned before, lost interest. I didn't post this because I didn't think it was a strong enough idea to base an entire post about. I could've briefly mentioned it in a post like this and it would be for the better. Also, Quidditch_Turtle had just written a post about this same series and I didn't want to sound like a copycat.

So, what have I been into lately? I've developed an obsession with watching So You Think You Can Dance videos on YouTube. I know that the show's in the middle of a season right now, but they're doing this "Stage vs. Street" thing where they have teams (Stage being contemporary, jazz, ballroom, and tap dancers and Street being hip-hop) and the idea just doesn't appeal to me. I prefer the old format and I love going back, watching my favorite routines from past seasons, and discovering new ones. I might make a post about it someday.

For us at the Brick Wall, school starts on September 1 and we're getting ready to go back. I know a lot of people disagree with me, but I actually like school and I've missed seeing my classmates every day. I actually cried on the last day of school last year because I didn't want to leave. I"m excited to meet new teachers and friends, try new things, and prepare myself for the future. We're probably not going to post very often during the school year, but we'll try to post whenever we can.

 I know that this post was really pointless and not about anything in particular, but it felt necessary. I just wanted to say that I'm not dead, I've just been lazy. I'll post whenever I feel like it, and have a nice day.

Fandom Friday 7.17.15

Hello everyone! This is Quidditch_Turtle, writing to you from the desk of The Brick Wall. As I (and everyone else at The Brick Wall) mentioned in previous posts, it's been a while since we've all posted. For this post, I'd like to do an update on one of my other Fandom Friday posts from way-back-when. I had created a list of books that I wanted to read and titled it my "Book Bucket List." Quite some time has passed since then, which means that I've had the chance to read a lot of the books on that list. Here's the list, also including additional comments about my reading journey.

1. Divergent Trilogy
    Veronica Roth

I started and finished Divergent in March 2015, and finished Insurgent in April. Then I had to read a different book for a project in school, but I picked the series up again with Allegiant and finished that in the end of May.

2. The Hobbit/ The Lord of the Rings
    J.R.R. Tolkien

I read The Hobbit in the end of 2014, and enjoyed the writing style of J.R.R. Tolkien a lot, but I'm not really into the whole "hard-core fantasy" aspect of the series. Therefore, I didn't continue to read the actual LOTR series.

(I apologize for all of the white space; the pictures are tough to work with...)

3. Between Shades of Gray
    Ruta Sepetys

My cousin had recommended this novel to
me a while back when she had to read it for school. I still haven't read it.

4. The Book Thief
    Markus Zusak

I bought it! It's sitting on my dresser! But I still need to read it!...

(I apologize for all of the white space; the pictures are tough to work with...)

5. Series of Unfortunate Events
    Lemony Snicket

I am actually currently reading this series right now! I'm about half-way finished with the 5th book, The Austere Academy. I'm really enjoying it so far, but it is starting to get a little repetitive. Anyway, I'm hoping to finish the series by the end of the summer.

6. The Fault in our Stars
    John Green

I read an excerpt of this on my Kindle once, but I wasn't really that interested. This book is short enough, though, where it might be one of those "I-Don't-Have-Anything-Else-To-Read-So-I'll-Read-This" sort of thing.

7. The Giver
    Lois Lowry

I read this book at the beginning of September 2014, and enjoyed it! I have MANY mixed feelings about the ending, however...Those of you who have also read this know what I'm talking about...Recently, I saw the movie adaptation, and liked it, but it was sooooooooooooo different from the book; it was just weird.

8. Wonder
    R.J. Palacio

We did a chart-thing on this book/author at school once, and I think the author's inspiration for writing the book is a really good story, but I don't know if I'd actually read the book anymore.

9. If I Stay & Where She Went
    Gayle Forman

I received both of these books as a birthday gift, and started reading If I Stay in October 2014. I finished it in about 2 weeks, and started the next one, Where She Went. I never finished this, however, because I felt like there was too much swearing in the book (those of you who have ever read a Gayle Forman piece know what I'm talking about). **SPOILER FOR IF I STAY DON'T READ THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED IF I STAY**I would have really liked to know what happened between Adam and Mia, though.

10. Percy Jackson series
      Rick Riordan

Again, haven't read it, but it's a rainy day series.

11. Artemis Fowl
     Eoin Colfer

Haven't read it, rainy day, yadda yadda yadda...

12. The Westing Game
      Ellen Raskin

I like mysteries, but I haven't read this one either...

13. Charlie St. Cloud
      Ben Sherwood

I don't even know why these are on here; there are SO many other books that I want to read more than these next few... Oh well, people change, so Book Bucket Lists change. I'm just going to list the next few books (Haven't read any of them, btw).

14. Homefront
      Doris Gwaltney

15. In a Heartbeat
      Loretta Ellsworth

16. (Last One) Ways to Live Forever
      Sally Nicholls

Whew, that was a long one! Maybe I'll do an updated Book Bucket List sometime in the future, since this is from almost a year ago...anyway, see ya soon!

Guess Who's Back...(:

That's right, we're back! Quidditch_Turtle here with your first Fandom Friday post in a really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, (just one more, I promise) REALLY long time! Aaah, it feels good to be posting again! Anyway, let's get right to it. Even though me and my co-hosts here at the Brick Wall pretty much live and breath fandoms, Fandom Friday is probably one of the hardest days to write about (speaking for all of us). But, since there are some very exciting things going on in one specific fandom of which I am a part, I decided to do sort of like a discussion of current events. Also, I am forewarning you readers that there will be spoilers in this post about a certain trilogy that is very popular right now. If you so choose to continue reading, please scroll at your own risk. Without further ado, I'd like to introduce you to this Tumblr post that applies to our discussion today.

The fandom I have been referencing in the previous part of this post is The Hunger Games fandom. If you are not familiar with this trilogy, here is the summary on the back of The Hunger Games, the first novel of the series:

"In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games," a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed."
-The Hunger Games, by: Suzanne Collins

If you're still not familiar with this series, I would suggest that you stop reading this post because it would be completely boring and irrelevant. If you are in the middle of reading/watching the series, or in other words have not finished Mockingjay (or any of the other books, really), I hIGHLY ADVISE YOU LEAVE THIS POST AND NOT READ ANY FURTHER BECAUSE YES, IT DOES CONTAIN MAJOR SPOILERS THAT I WOULD BE MAJORLY UPSET TO REVEAL TO YOU. Anyway, on with the show-

Lately there's been a lot of commotion regarding the release of Mockinjay Part 2, after the many different reactions from Mockinjay Part 1's release back in November 2014. I thought Part 1 was fairly well executed in terms of book-to-movie accuracy, but I'm one of those weird people who's opinion is usually way different from the majority of others. For example, I know that almost everyone in THG fandom thought that Mockingjay was "the worst book ever", they "hated it", thinks "it should be shunned from the face of the earth"...etc. Like I said before, I am weird, and thought that Mockingjay was actually a decent book. Definitely not my favorite, but definitely one of my favorites (if that makes any sense...). I'm getting the vibe that, for some odd reason, fanpeople are WAY more excited for the release of the Mockingjay movie(s) than they were for the book. Don't know why, but I guess that's just the way society works these days.

Back on the topic of the movie, Part 1 was actually banned in Thailand because of the government's fear of arising rebellions caused by inspiration of the movie. Thai citizens protested the ban of the movie anyway, and using the three-finger salute is a crime that could get you arrested there. Based on my knowledge of this, I'm guessing that Part 2 will also not be available to view in the country; so, if you're planning on visiting Thailand and you would really love to see Mockingjay Part 2, I would suggest doing both at separate times.

In preparation for the movie, Mockingjay propaganda, such as movie posters featuring the infamous three-finger salute, have spread throughout the world and are being displayed in 18 countries around the world in the following locations:

Sydney, Australia
Melbourne, Australia
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Toronto, Cananda
Bogota, Colombia
San Salvador, El Salvador
Helsinki, Finland
Paris, France
Munich, Germany
Milan, Italy
Tokyo, Japan
Mexico City, Mexico
Managua, Nicaragua
Moscow, Russia
Madrid, Spain
Stockholm, Sweden
London, England (United Kingdom)
Birmingham, England (United Kingdom)
Los Angeles, California (United States)
New York City, New York (United States)
Montevideo, Uruaguay

The hands featured in the 6 official posters belong to both males and females of ages ranging from 8-80, and of all religions and races. They encourage fans from around the world to put aside all differences and come together as one body (in other words, to "Unite").

This poster is located in Munich, Germany

Many wonder what the three-finger salute actually means; some believe it is an act of defiance, like the Capitol morphs it to be in the books and movies. But really, its a gesture meaning thanks, meaning admiration, or to say goodbye to someone you love. So next time you see the salute being used or use it yourself, remember its real meaning of respect and honor.

Social media users have been including the hashtag "Unite" with posts in reference to the Districts coming together in rebellion against their "beloved" Capitol, as well as updating fans on the progression of the movie.

The image above is one of the Mockingjay Pt. 2 movie posters, giving fans a hint of the outcome of the Districts' rebellion. Notice in the corner of the poster that written in red "spray paint" (as graffiti), is "#Unite", and next to that, the phrase "Revolution.pn". The phrase is actually a web address (If you don't want to know what will happen when you visit the website, don't read the next few sentences) that brings you to a website that "recruits" rebels, and all you do is type your first and last name and email. I'm not really sure what they do with that information, because I just did it a couple minutes previous to typing this. Click on the button labeled "Unite", and it will take you to the official Mockingjay Part 2 teaser trailer on YouTube. Another page mimics the official website of the Capitol. Here you can explore different specials airing on CapitolTV, read about heroes from seven of the twelve Districts (according to the Capitol), and explore more about the Capitol's own view of how it runs Panem. Only, there happens to be a glitch- when you get to the website, it seems like a normal site hosted by the Capitol itself. After a couple of seconds, however, the page blacks out and appears to be taken over by the rebels! You might also notice that when you first get to the website, the background image is a statue of President Snow, sitting in an apparent "throne" between statues of Peeta Mellark and Johanna Mason in their "hijacked by the Capitol" forms. Once the page is liberated by the rebels, you'll notice that the background is the same as the poster shown above, and that Peeta and Johanna are no longer standing among President Snow (hint, hint). I would recommend that you go check out both websites, because it further brings to life the intensity and epic-ness of the Revolution and the idea of the Mockingjay by creating a sort of interactive experience that fans can take part in.

The grand opening of an interactive tour into the world of The Hunger Games was held on July 1st, 2015 at Discovery Times Square in New York City, USA. The Hunger Games: The Exhibition offers fans the experience of a lifetime when they see the Hunger Games like never before. Here is the summary of the event at its website (click here to visit website):

"The Hunger Games: The Exhibition celebrates the blockbuster The Hunger Games franchise and Katniss’s epic journey like never before. This dynamic exploration of the art, science, pageantry and history of the world of Panem features iconic costumes, props, and set recreations that highlight the technological wizardry and amazing artistry that brought this world to life. High-tech, hands-on interactives let you dive into exciting behind-the-scenes content, engage deeply with the world of the films, and discover a whole new side of the stories that took the world by storm."

-The Hunger Games: The Exhibition, "About the Exhibition".

I apologize for the lengthy post, but I really enjoy talking about my favorite fandoms and book series. Hopefully you enjoyed this, and don't be afraid to share your comments with us! Unite, join the Revolution, and may the odds be ever in your favor.

Doglover's Favorite 5 Songs of June

Hey everyone! This is doglover. I couldn't think of anything else to post, so I'm doing my favorite 5 songs of June 2015!

Here we go:

5. Ella Henderson - Ghost
This song is back in the Top 5 because I'm hearing it more lately on the radio, it's just a really incredible song.

4. David Guetta and Nicki Minaj - Hey Mama

This song is catchy at moments and just plain upbeat.

3. Sam Smith - Lay Me Down

This was in previous months, so same reason.

2. Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do
This was in 50 Shades of Grey, and still plays today on the radio, it's a pretty and cool song.

1. Wiz Khalifa - See You Again

This is a great song with many great parts (mostly the singing, not the rapping) It's also a great song to dedicate to Paul Walkers memory in Furious 7 (I didn't see it, however)

Dog-lover presents... Commonly Overplayed Songs in Today's Music

Hey hey hey! It's doglover, and I am here to kick off the start of the summer days program, so next month, I will have Travel Tuesdays. My first Music Mondays is focused on commonly overplayed songs, and I'm talking about INSANELY overplayed, like it is all I ever hear on the radio (this is pop and rock, so there is no country) Also, this doesn't mean I don't like the songs, I just think they're played a lot & this is my opinion, some of you out there might not agree.
Here are 10-15 commonly overplayed songs:

1. Taylor Swift - Blank Space

2. Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud

3. Sam Smith ~ any songs that are hits (I like them though)

4. Jason DeRulo - Want To Want Me

5. Shaggy - I Need Your Love

6. Taylor Swift - Style

7. Fall Out Boy - Light Em Up

8. Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do (my favorite song)

9. Mark Ronson (w/ Bruno Mars) - Uptown Funk

10. Echosmith - Bright (another song I love)

Well, there you have it, again, this is my theory, you might have a different list. I'll see you next Monday, June 29 with another post that I don't know about yet. See you there

Dog-lover's Favorite 5 Songs of May 2015

Hey! It is dog-lover here! I am going to do my May 2015 "5 Favorite Songs!"

Some of the same songs might be on here as there was in previous months.

Let's get started:

5. Andy Grammer - Honey, I'm Good

This one was in April.  I think it's a catchy song.

4. Sam Smith - Lay Me Down

This song is a pretty song with a pretty ending.

3. Wiz Khalifa feat. Charlie Puth - See You Again

A very pretty song (when Puth is singing) which was soundtrack in "Furious 7"

2. Rachel Platten - Fight Song

I think it's a catchy song with some pretty parts.

1. Ellie Goulding - Love Me Like You Do

This song was in April and perhaps March, I am like REALLY loving this song, every time it comes on, I'm singing my head off.

Well, there you have it!  I will maybe post on Monday, June 1 about the Summer of Good Songs, I'll explain later.

BYE!

 Hey guys, CHUCKLES here! I'm sure your happy to see my shining face again... or rather my text... Anyways, I apologize that I have not posted very much during the school year. It's just that I've had a lot going on lately. Ex: homework, Destination Imagination, going to my cabin. So, I have decided that posting would be a good idea. Now, what will this post be about? How about the my latest updates?

Let's start with school. School has been amazing (unlike most people I really like school). Since the school year is ending let me tell one of my favorite memories from the year. My literature teacher thinks my core class (the class that I travel with most of the day) is a really good class. One day my teacher started to talk to us about an assignment that we had just turned in. Then was started to get off track with our conversation and we were having a lot of fun, so she decided that we should just talk the whole hour... and we did. I am really going to miss her and all my other teachers.

Music has been a big part of my life lately, so I suppose I should tell you about that. I still play tuba and native American flute and I have decided to learn two new instruments. This summer I will be taking guitar and trombone lessons. Hopefully I will catch on to regular guitar quickly so I can try electric guitar which I have always wanted to try.

I have also gotten really into watching YouTube. My current favorite youtuber is Kickthepj. My favorite video that he has made is on of his newer ones. It's called Oscar's Hotel. It's a great short about a magical hotel that is filled with interesting creatures.

Well, I cant think of much else to say.
See ya, CHUCKLES

P.S. I just realized I have already done a post on kickthepj

not_luna_lovegood's First Post (Revisited)

Hello, it's me, not_luna_lovegood. I realize I just posted yesterday, but I'm feeling creative right now, so I will post again. As you may know, but our 1-year anniversary is coming up soon. Because of this, I have decided to revisit the first post I ever made on here and reflect on it. The post is titled "Music Mondays with not_luna_lovegood #1" and was posted on June 2, 2014. I will be making comments and sharing thoughts so you can see how much I have changed from when I first started the blog to today. I will be putting my thoughts in a different font and color.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hello, you've reached Music Mondays! I'm not_luna_lovegood, and I'll be here to tell you all about music and stuff during the month of June! When June is over, I'll be moving to Travel Tuesdays and Banana_Elephant will be doing Music Mondays! Since this is my first entry on the blog, I thought I would take some time to introduce myself to y'all!
 Ah, the good old days when we changed topics every month. Luckily, those days are coming back this summer. I also start my posts essentially the same way I did back then. Lastly, what's up with my usage of the word(?) "y'all?" It just sounds cheesy and corny now.
First of all, I am NOT the character Luna Lovegood from J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, nor do I know her at all. But I can assure you that if I did know her, we would totally be BFFs! Just wanted to get that out there, haha. I don't know how I came up with my username, I was just sitting there in health class and it just came to me.
I am still not Luna Lovegood, I have still never met her, and I still think we would be friends if she were real and I knew her. I feel that her personality is very similar to mine.
So anyway, I'm gonna list some random facts about me in an attempt to introduce myself.
Great first impression, Looney (that was sarcastic, if you couldn't tell).
1. I am a die-hard Harry Potter fan. Mention Harry Potter around me and I will start screaming and fangirling because I love it so much. #potterheadandproud
I'm still a giant Harry Potter fan and I always will be. I fail to see how people can dislike Harry Potter.
2. I love music! I play clarinet in school band, piano, and I'm going to learn guitar this summer. My favorite genre of music is pop, which is what we talk about on Music Mondays.
I LOVE MUSIC. It's as simple as that. I'm almost always listening to music and if I'm not, I have a song in my head. I am listening to the song "Clocks" by my favorite band, Coldplay, as I write this. I love Coldplay's music because it makes me feel creative. Also, my attempts at guitar failed, and we talk about more than pop music at Music Mondays.
3. I refuse to answer any and all personal questions (my real name, age, address, school, etc.) and comments (I think I know you, I know what your personal Instagram is, etc.). I'm terrified of stalkers. Don't even bother posting personal questions and/or comments because they won't show up.
The "no private information revealed" policy is still in use, and will stay there for a LONG TIME.
4. The idea for the Brick Wall first started about a month or two ago, but it wasn't until about a week ago that the idea became a reality. We were just talking at lunch and saying the randomest things when we thought, "Hey, why don't we start a blog about us saying random things?" And finally, after waiting for around a month, Quidditch_Turtle finally started the blog!
I think I did a pretty good job describing our humble origins. I remember how excited I was when we first started The Brick Wall, and I'm glad at how it turned out.
5. We came up with the name "The Brick Wall" because of the brick wall near the table we sit at in our school cafeteria. One of the bricks has a piece of masking tape that says "Brick" taped on it. And that's sort of how we came up with the name.
Name story time! The brick with the masking tape on it is gone, sadly. R.I.P. "Brick" Brick.
6. I'm not just a grammar Nazi, I consider myself Grammar Hitler. Seriously! Use the wrong "there" in a sentence (We saw the train sitting their as opposed to We saw the train sitting there) or something like that and I will start raging madly.
Grammar Hitler? Seriously? TOO FAR, LOONEY. I consider myself "Chief of the Grammar Police" now, because that name doesn't make light of the terrible times known as the Holocaust.
7. I love to read and write. Besides Harry Potter, my favorite series are Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Divergent, and The Hunger Games. Right now, I'm writing a story and I'm not really sure how to explain what it's about. I might publish it on another website when it's done.
I have like a hundred favorite books, but my absolute favorite series is Harry Potter. I am also writing five different stories right now. I'm a multitasker.
8. I'm a big fan of Disney movies. I love them all, but I'd say my favorite is Finding Nemo (which is actually made by Pixar but I count it as a Disney movie). Finding Nemo is my favorite movie of all time!
Pitch Perfect and its sequel are my favorite movies, but I'm still a Disney kid at heart, as you can see in my list of my top 10 favorite movies.
9. My favorite color is blue because if I were a student at Hogwarts (school in the Harry Potter series, in case you didn't know that, but you probably do) I would be in Ravenclaw House, and if I were in one of the factions from the Divergent series, I would be in Erudite. Coincidentally, both Ravenclaw and Erudite have blue for their representing color!
Blue is still my favorite color...LOL.
10. I would love to be a famous singer, but I sound like a dying cow when I sing, so that will never happen!
Well, I was just singing along to "Love Me Like You Do" by Ellie Goulding (alone, of course!) and I didn't think I sounded THAT bad. I'll still never be a famous singer, though. I want to be a writer.
So that’s just a little bit about me. I hope you enjoy our blog!
Had I made this post earlier, I would have noted that I love cinnamon rolls, mainly because I think of myself a cinnamon roll personified. I also would have noted that I am very wordy and can be sarcastic at times.
not_luna_lovegood
Alas, my humble signature. It hasn't really changed, except for the fact that I added "aka Looney" in parentheses because it's Luna Lovegood's nickname in Harry Potter. I also sometimes forget to italicize it.
  I have changed quite a bit ever since my first Brick Wall post, and I hope you find how I've changed interesting.
not_luna_lovegood's Top 10 Dancing With The Stars Season 20 Dances
So, the Dancing With The Stars ended its 20th season this past Tuesday, and it was the 10th anniversary of the show. I started watching this season because of a certain couple (keep reading to find out who) and I became hooked. There were so many great dances and great dancers this season. Having just finished watching the season finale on my DVR, I have decided to count down my top 10 favorite routines from this season. Let me tell you, this was not an easy task, and this is my opinion, so don't hate! Lastly, I will provide links to each dance so you can see them.
10. Riker Lynch & Allison Holker, Week 10 *Fusion Challenge*
I just saw this dance about a half hour ago, and it was my favorite of the three "fusion" routines. The dance is set to MKTO's song "Classic" (which I still love, even though it came out around a year ago) and melds the salsa and quickstep styles together effortlessly. Riker and Allison were easily one of my favorite couples this season and I'm proud of them for taking 2nd. I thought they performed this dance effortlessly, despite having a mere 24 hours to prepare it.
 9. Riker Lynch & Allison Holker, Week 9
Two dances from Riker & Allison in a row! I can't help it. I love this pairing, and we got some pretty awesome routines from them. During Week 9, they performed this powerful contemporary routine to "Work Song" by Hozier. I really like the intimate feel of this dance, and I thought the dancing was amazing.
8. Nastia Liukin, Sasha Farber, & Derek Hough, Week 8
Nastia and Derek were not originally one of my favorite couples, but I grew to love them together as the season went on. This routine, a jive set to "Diane Young" by Vampire Weekend, was one of my favorites from them. I really enjoyed the theme, choreography, costumes, and sets. This routine was so much fun for me to watch.
7. Rumer Willis & Val Chmerkovskiy, Week 5
In case you missed it, Rumer & Val won this season of Dancing With The Stars, so congrats to them! I loved the bond these two had and how grateful Rumer was that she had the chance to be on the show. My favorite dance from them was definitely their Samba on Disney Night to The Little Mermaid's "Poor Unfortunate Souls". Rumer decided not to be a princess like she thought everyone else did and decided to dress up as Ursula, the evil sea witch. In my opinion, this decision worked out for the better, as the pair brought to life one of my favorite Disney villain songs from one of my favorite Disney movies! Also, the costumes and set pieces were excellent.
6. Willow Shields & Mark Ballas, Week 7
You know how I said that there was a certain couple that made me really watch this season? Well, being a huge fan of the Hunger Games series, Willow & Mark were that couple. This was one of their last dances together thanks to their shockingly early elimination (which I am still mad about, because I believe they should have at least made it to the finale), and it didn't disappoint. In this futuristic Jazz routine, which was set to "Electric Feel" by MGMT, they play probably the coolest ninja duo ever. This routine was just...I have no words to describe how much I enjoyed it.
5. Nastia Liukin & Sasha Farber, Week 7
Kicking off my top 5 is this ultra-joyous routine from week 7. This week, Nastia's original partner, Derek Hough, was injured and replaced by Sasha Farber, but he still choreographed this dance. This modern-day Charleston is set to the earworm song "Honey, I'm Good" by Andy Grammer, who actually performed it live for the routine. I like this dance because of its fun, joyful feel.
Link: Nastia Liukin & Sasha "Charleston" Dancing with the Stars Season 20 Week 7
4. Nastia Liukin & Derek Hough, Week 9 *Judges Choice*
For the Judges Choice round, one of the judges was in charge of a coaching and styling dance for each of the couples. Len Goodman (the "tough judge" as I call him) helped create this beautiful Viennese Waltz for Nastia & Derek. The song that this dance was set to is "Fall For You" by Leela James, who, like Andy Grammer, performed it live for the dance. The Viennese Waltz casts Derek as a younger version of Len, and it gave me lots of feels, especially in the final moments where Len does a little dancing. Judge Julianne Hough said about the dance, "I think that was the most special dance I’ve ever seen," and it was my favorite out of all of Nastia & Derek's routines.
Link:  Nastia & Derek - Viennese Waltz - Dancing With The Stars Season 20 Week 9 Semifinals (5-11-15)
3. Riker Lynch & Allison Holker, Week 5
We're getting down to the wire here with Riker & Allison's Disney Week Paso Doble at #3. This dance is Pirates of the Caribbean themed and is set to "He's A Pirate" from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. This was definitely my favorite from Disney Week. I love the overall look of it, with amazing costumes and props. The choreography is awesome, and Riker & Allison execute this dance perfectly. They also reprised it during Week 10 and did a great job.
Link: Riker & Allison's Paso Doble - Dancing with the Stars
2. Noah Galloway & Sharna Burgess, Week 10 *Freestyle*
My runner-up for my favorite dance of Season 20 is performed by Noah Galloway, the army veteran who inspired countless people with his story and choreographed by his partner, Sharna Burgess. This routine is so emotional and inspiring, and was hands-down my favorite of the three freestyles. The set and look of this dance is amazing, and the music (a mashup of "Titanium" by David Guetta featuring Sia and "Fix You" by Coldplay) works incredibly well. Noah & Sharna took 3rd place overall, so congratulations to them!
Link: Noah & Sharna's Freestyle - Dancing With the Stars
And my #1 favorite dance of Season 20 of Dancing With The Stars is...(drumroll please)...
1. Willow Shields & Mark Ballas, Week 4
In my opinion, this Contemporary routine is too perfect for words, and ever since I saw it, I knew it would be my #1. First of all, it's Hunger Games-themed. As I previously mentioned, I am a major Hunger Games fangirl. In this dance, Willow, Mark, and several backup dancers have their own Hunger Games, and it was my favorite moment of the season. The choreography is not some of the best of the season, but the pure emotion Willow, Mark, and everyone else involved put in is just breathtaking. The song they dance to is "Atlas" by Coldplay, which is an awesome song by my favorite band and is from an awesome movie (it's on the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire). The Most Memorable Year week was not one of my favorite themed weeks this season, but this dance made it worth watching and then some. Yet another reason why I love this dance so much is because Willow & Mark were in jeopardy following the previous week, but this dance made everyone forget that. Lastly, Willow is 14 years old, but she had the maturity of people far older than her, and you can't help but love her for that. In my opinion, this routine is by far the best of season 20 and was absolutely unforgettable.
Link: Willow Shields & Mark - Contemporary - Dancing With The Stars - Season 20 Week 4 (4-6-15)
That wraps up my top 10! All videos belong to their respective owners, not me. I know I may have forgot some dances, so feel free to tell me in the comments which Season 20 routines were your favorite! This has been a great season of Dancing With The Stars, and here's to another in the fall! I'm not_luna_lovegood, and I will write again soon!
Updates/Fangirling with not_luna_lovegood
Um, hi. It's been a little more than a month since I've posted and I thought I should do an update thing. First I am going to talk about my personal life, then I am going to fangirl. I'm very fangirl-y.
First of all, my personal life: I'm doing good! I've been having a fun time with my friends and discovering my personality. School is almost out for us, and we have around 12 days left. I'm excited to get out of school and have some fun! This summer I'm planning on having fun with my friends, taking summer school classes, and obviously writing on here!
Now, the FANGIRLING. First, I'm gonna talk about Pitch Perfect 2. As you know, the original Pitch Perfect movie is my favorite. I mean...was.
I saw the sequel, Pitch Perfect 2 last Friday, and I think it's my new favorite movie. I went with my mom to see it and we both had such a fun time! The main plot of Pitch Perfect 2 is that the Barden Bellas are back and have won the national a cappella championship three times since the first film. After an embarrassing performance in front of the president, Barack Obama, they must redeem themselves and enter a world a cappella championship. This movie has more singing than the first, which was awesome. It also had more of Rebel Wilson's character, Fat Amy, which I found to be a good thing! I thought Pitch Perfect 2 was even funnier than the first mainly because of Fat Amy, and I was crying from laughing so hard! The film even has some touching moments, which you'll have to see to find out. Overall, Pitch Perfect 2 was absolutely amazing to me and I highly recommend you see it if you liked the first! Also, if you do see it in theaters, make sure you see the end-credits scene. I won't spoil anything, but it is SO funny.
And the fangirling doesn't stop there, because the Dancing With The Stars Season 20 finale is tonight and tomorrow night! It's actually on right now as I write this. I've been really watching this season of the show. I can't wait to see who will win, as I think all of the couples in the finale are incredible. After it's over, I will post about my top ten favorite routines from this season, so be on the lookout for that!
What's a better way to finish my fangirling then with some Taylor Swift? As you may know, the Billboard Music Awards were last night, Sunday, May 18, and Taylor Swift debuted her new music video for her song, "Bad Blood". I bring this up because I am OBSESSED with the video! The video stars Taylor as Catastrophe, a supervillain. Catastrophe teams up with some of her celebrity friends to defeat the backstabbing Arsyn, played by Selena Gomez. One of the main reasons why I love this video is because of all the cameos! It's like everybody in the video was famous, with Selena Gomez, Zendaya, and Ellie Goulding being just a few of the many famous faces I saw. I also love this video because of its futuristic theme and how awesome everyone looks! I linked the video below so you can watch it in all its glory...
Taylor Swift- Bad Blood ft. Kendrick Lamar
That wraps up another post for now! I'm almost positive that my next post will be the aforementioned "Top 10 Dancing With The Stars Season 20 Dances". Hopefully I won't ramble too much in it. See you soon!
100th Post
Hey, it's not_luna_lovegood, and I want to let you know that we have reached 100 posts on The Brick Wall! That is why I made the random posts. We were hoping to collaborate amongst ourselves and reflect on our time, but that never happened. We're sorry about that. On another note, we have been writing on the blog for over a year! It's true! Our first post was published on June 2, 2014. We hope to keep writing for at least another year. That's all for now. I will write again soon!
Billboard's Top 10 Songs In America (presented to you bynot_luna_lovegood)
It's not_luna_lovegood, and today, I will present to you the top 10 songs in America according to the Billboard Hot 100. It says on the site that this is the chart for the week of April 25, 2015, even though this was written 10 days before that date. I will list the top 10 songs of the week, as well as the song's peak on the chart, whether it has moved or not, and how many places it has moved (if it has). I will also be sharing my opinions on the songs, because why not? Also, all of my information comes from the following site, where you can get to links to listen to or buy the songs! Or you can just go on YouTube/iTunes/Spotify/whatever you use!
www.billboard.com
So let's get things started, shall we?
Last week, Taylor Swift's "Style" was at #7. This week, it falls down 3 places to #10. This song peaked at #6. What do I think about this song? I'm not really a big fan of Taylor's, but I really like this song! It's so catchy and fun to sing along to. This is easily my favorite of the three singles she has released off of her latest album, 1989, the other two being "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space".
New to the top 10 this week is "Shut Up And Dance" by Walk The Moon, coming in at #9, which is a new peak. Last week, it was at #12. I can't lie, I am obsessed with this song. It makes you want to (pun intended) just shut up and dance! This song is definitely one of my favorite songs at the moment. Also, my mom loves it. I don't know why I just said that.
Staying at its #8 peak is "G.D.F.R." by Flo Rida ft. Sage the Gemini and Lookas. First things first, this is my brother's favorite song (at least I think it is). It's not my favorite, but I don't hate it because it reminds me of him. This song also gets stuck in my head a lot.
At #7 is Ellie Goulding's song "Love Me Like You Do". Last week, it was at its #3 peak and has fallen down 4 places. This song is on the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack, and I have not read/seen it (it's probably REALLY inappropriate for my age), nor do I plan to. That being said, I do like this song, though it's not my favorite song by Ellie Goulding (for the record, my favorite of hers is "Burn). "Love Me Like You Do" is a pretty song in my opinion and I understand why people love it like they do (I am on a roll today with these puns!). It is pretty overplayed, though.
Keeping up with the Fifty Shades of Grey theme is The Weeknd's "Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)" at #6. Like the aforementioned "Love Me Like You Do", it also falls down from its peak, but this song's peak was #4. I haven't heard this song yet, so I can't really share my opinion on it.
Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" is at #5, and it was at the #2 spot for 8 weeks. I personally think this song is beautiful and I really like it. I want it played at my wedding. I like a lot of Ed's songs. Also, he looks like he could fit in with the Weasley family in Harry Potter (I'm not saying that to be mean, I love Harry Potter!) Oh, forget it. I'm just thinking out loud (These puns are not going away.)
At #4 is "Trap Queen" by Fetty Wap. It went up 2 places from its #6 position last week. I'm just going to take a wild guess that its popularity comes from Vine, which explains why I have never heard it. I'm not on Vine and am completely oblivious to it.
"Sugar" by Maroon 5 is at a sweet #3 position. However, it falls down from its #2 peak, which isn't so sweet (SO MANY PUNS!) This song is not my favorite, and it's overplayed, but I can listen to it without complaining. Also, my brother and I always joke about this song and how high Adam Levine sings in it.
Falling from its 14-week reign at #1 is "Uptown Funk" by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars, currently at #2. This song was just two weeks shy of tying with "One Sweet Day" by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men (which came out in 1995) for the song with the most weeks at #1 ever. But "Uptown Funk" does tie for the second-most weeks at #1, so there's that. I am starting to get sick of this song, but it is still very catchy to me! Also, there's a Harry Potter-themed parody of this song which is even better than the original if you ask me. I will link it below, as it's pretty Funk-y (PUNS! SWEET BEAUTIFUL PUNS!)
Dark Lord Funk- Harry Potter Parody of "Uptown Funk"
This week, we have a new #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and boy, it's a good one. Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth's "See You Again" rises from #10 to the summit of the charts. This song is on the soundtrack to the seventh Fast & Furious movie, and it's a tribute to the late Paul Walker. I had never heard this song until about an hour before I wrote this, and I think it's the first song I've ever listened to to actually move me to tears. I was watching the music video with my brother, which shows a bunch of footage from Paul's life, and about a minute in, I just started sobbing. The funny thing is, I don't even really like rap, nor have I seen any of Paul's movies, but this is just a beautiful, moving song. Having lost many loved ones in my lifetime, "See You Again" really touched me and I really related to it. Hopefully it will see the top of the charts again (even in the most emotional of moments, I can still make puns!)
Sorry this was long, as all my posts are. Also, sorry for the puns. Just kidding, I'm not sorry about those. I might make this a weekly thing, covering the Billboard Top 10. I will write again soon, and I'll see you again (I should get an award for "Most Puns In A Brick Wall Post")!
